How to read these prices

The 3-year cost

VPN deals advertise a low monthly price that only applies to your first term. After that, the plan renews at a higher price. The 3-year cost adds up the first payment and every renewal you'd need to stay covered for 36 months. Divide it by 36 and you get the monthly cost we rank by: what the VPN really costs per month, renewals included.

Many long plans add free months to the first term: CyberGhost's 2-year plan covers 26 months, 24 paid and 2 free. We count those free months, so the first renewal falls later and the 3-year cost is lower than the renewal price alone would suggest.

Every price includes 10% GST. Some providers show prices before GST on their own site; those are marked +GST on their site, and we've added it for you.

Paying in US dollars or euros

Plans marked Charged in USD or EUR show the price as charged plus an Australian-dollar estimate (≈), and are ranked by that estimate.

You'll pay the exchange rate on the day, renewals included, and many Australian cards add a foreign transaction fee of around 3%.
